Trainings for Local Cooperation Groups

 

On 14-16 October 2009 the Halina Nieć Legal Aid Center and La Strada Foundation realized trainings for Local Cooperation Groups within the framework of realization of Agreement on standard proceedings as regards identification, counteraction and reaction to cases of sexual violence or violence connected with gender towards aliens in the refugee centers. The trainings, financed by UNHCR Regional Bureau in Poland,  took place in Police headquarters in three cities: Warsaw, Lublin and Białystok. In the trainings participated social employees from refugee centers, as well as police officers working with refugees and NGO representatives. The principal themes were identification and counteracting violence situations in centers.

 

 

Trainings for Border Guards – the AMAS Program 2009

 

In 2009 within the framework of Access Management and Support Program realized in cooperation with UNHCR, 3 trainings for Border Guard officers were organized, being continuation of cooperation from past years. These trainings were carried out in the Central Border Guards Training Center in Koszalin (6-9 July 2009 and 1-4 September 2009) and in the Border Guard Training Center in Kętrzyn (14-17 December 2009).

The trainings were entitled “Reinforcement of protection of refugees through better border management.” The subjects were as follows:

  • the standards of treatment of asylum seekers;
  • vulnerable groups treatment standards (unaccompanied minors as well as foreigners whose psychophysical state allows presuming that they have been victims of violence and foreigners with disabilities);
  • non-refoulement principle;
  • trauma and SGVB;
  • cultural differences and work with asylum seekers from varied regions and social groups.
